The main directions in the visual arts of the first half of the xx century.

At the beginning of the 20th century, under the influence of historical events, new trends in art arose. Art workers discovered new forms and means of self-expression for creativity. The most progressive and innovative directions were: Cubism, Expressionism, Futurism, Surrealism, Abstractionism. Artistic canvases, literary works, architectural buildings and sculptures were created in these styles. They were characterized by the rejection of the established framework, the introduction of symbolic forms, the rejection of the depiction of real life.
