The main events of the first crusade.

The first crusade was organized by the Pope in order to get the land of Jerusalem, which was considered a holy city. It was planned to expel the Seljuk Turks from there. The trip took place in 1096 and lasted until 1099. The Catholics managed to capture Jerusalem and organize a state there. The first crusade was attended by the poor, landless knights, feudal lords and peasants. Such a motley composition was explained by the fact that as a reward the participants were given not only forgiveness of sins, but also earth.
