Russia during the reign of Alexander I developed foreign policy in the south, in the west, in the east. In the southern direction, Russia waged the Russian-Iranian War (1804-1813). It was aimed at saving the Christian peoples of Dagestan, Azerbaijan, Georgia. Also, Russian troops fought with Turkey because it closed the Bosphorus and Dardanelles for navigation.
