The main prerequisites for feudal fragmentation.

Feudal fragmentation in Russia influenced its further development in no small measure. Its preconditions were hidden first of all in the fact that Russia itself weakened, and the trade route that fed it financially – the path “from the Varangians to the Greeks”, was also weakened. In addition, Yaroslav divided the rule between his sons, besides, the unsettled order of succession aggravated the situation. It was secured by the princes by holding a congress in 1097 in Lyubech.
