The main regions of maritime trade in the Middle East in the 11-15th centuries.

The first region was the Levant or the Eastern Mediterranean. The surge in trade there is associated with the Crusades of the late XI-XIII centuries. During this period, Venetian and Genoese traders took over the leading positions there. The second region can be considered the Persian Gulf. The Europeans did not get to it, it was used for trade by the Arabs and Persians.
