The main sources of funding for the absolute monarchy in France on the eve of the great revolution.

On the eve of the revolution, the French absolute monarchy remained practically the only one in Western Europe. The king raised taxes at his own discretion to maintain the court and the royal family. Dissatisfaction with the constant increase in taxes to finance the royal family has matured in all sectors of French society. The peasants and ordinary townspeople were not satisfied with the constant rise in prices, the representatives of the bourgeoisie were not satisfied with the fact that they were forced to share part of their profits.

All this resulted in an armed uprising in 1789, which grew into the Great French Revolution.
