1. Let’s find how many parts are in the alloy of copper and tin.
7 + 5 = 12 (parts).
2. Find how many grams are in one part.
720g: 12 = 60g.
3. Find the mass of copper in the alloy, if it is known that it is 7 parts.
60 x 7 = 420 g.
4. Find the mass of tin in the alloy.
60 x 5 = 300 g (or: 720 g – 420 g = 300 g).
Answer: the mass of copper is 420 g; tin weight 300 g.
