The mass of dried mushrooms is 14% of the mass of fresh ones. How many dried mushrooms
The mass of dried mushrooms is 14% of the mass of fresh ones. How many dried mushrooms can be obtained from 0.5 quintals of fresh ones? How many fresh mushrooms do you need to take to get 0.28 quintals of dried?
1. Let us find how many dried mushrooms can be obtained from 0.5 quintals of fresh ones, if the mass of dried mushrooms is equal to 14% of the mass of fresh ones. To do this, divide the mass of fresh mushrooms by 100, we get the mass of 1% of fresh mushrooms. We multiply the resulting value by 14%, we get the mass of dried mushrooms:
0.5 c / 100 = 0.005 c.
0.005 q * 14 = 0.07 q = 7 kg.
2. To find the amount of fresh mushrooms to obtain 0.28 quintals of dried ones, let’s make a proportion, where the amount of fresh mushrooms is x:
0.28 q = 14%,
x = 100%.
Find x using the cross rule:
100 * 0.28 = 14x,
28 = 14x,
x = 28/14,
x = 2 q.
Answer: from 0.5 centners of mushrooms we get 7 kg of dried mushrooms; to obtain 0.28 quintals of dried mushrooms, 2 quintals of fresh mushrooms are required.
