The most famous ancient temple in Greece.

The Temple of Zeus at Cyrene of Cyrene was the most important of the five Greek colonies in modern Libya. It is there that the temple of Zeus is located, built in the 5th century BC. It was destroyed during the Jewish rebellion in 115 AD, and was rebuilt 5 years later by the Romans on the orders of Emperor Hadrian. In 365 A.D. the earthquake smashed the temple into ruins once more, and it was no longer rebuilt. It was only in modern times that British and Italian archaeologists excavated the temple, and believed that the temple was larger than the Parthenon, which was a reflection of the wealth and importance of Cyrene in the ancient Greek world.
