Naturally, the most numerous people in the country are Russians. According to 2002 data, the number of Russians was almost 116 million, which was equal to 79.8% of the total population of the state. Of these, 77% live in cities and 23% in rural areas. It should also be noted that about 200 ethnic groups and national minorities live on the territory of Russia.
