Algae are plants that live in water and do not have real tissues and organs. Algae used by humans:
a) brown seaweed – kelp or seaweed – is used by humans for food, since it is very rich in iodine – it is recommended to use it to prevent thyroid diseases;
b) the unicellular alga chlorella is added to the feed for cattle – there are a lot of carbohydrates and proteins in its cells;
c) diatoms are used as filters for water purification.
