The name of the countries after the Second World War that adopted socialism.

By 1939, only the Soviet Union, the Mongolian People’s Republic and Tuva were socialist, but the latter at the end of 1944 became part of the USSR. Three Asian countries became socialist – North Korea (from 1948), China (from 1949), and North Vietnam (finally from 1954, after the end of the war with France). In Europe, there were more socialist countries – Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Albania, Yugoslavia, Poland, Czechoslovakia and the German Democratic Republic since October 1949.
