The name of the European states against which the expansion of the Ottoman Empire and its vassals was directed.

In the north, the Crimean Khanate was a vassal of the Ottoman Empire since 1475, and its expansion was directed to the north – against the Russian kingdom, the Zaporozhye Sich, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The raids of the Crimean Tatars continued from the beginning of the 16th century until about 1718.

In the east, the target of expansion was Persia and, sometimes, the Georgian principalities.

In the south, the main enemy, the Mamluk state, was defeated by 1518.

In the west, the Turks fought with Hungary, the Commonwealth, the Austrian Habsburg Empire, the Holy Roman Empire and Venice. Expansion ended in 1683.
