The names of the limbs of crayfish and their functions.

The limbs of the crayfish perform several functions: feeding, hunting and protecting, moving and carrying offspring. Consider them in the direction from the cephalothorax to the caudal fin. The first are the limbs transformed into jaws, there are three pairs of them (2 – lower, 1 – upper), their function is to grind food. They are followed by jaws – modified, as in the first case, limbs. There are also three pairs of them, they feed food to the jaws. Next is a pair of walking legs, transformed into pincers. With them, the cancer catches prey and defends itself. Behind it are 4 pairs of walking legs directly. Then there are the limbs of the abdomen – 4 or 5 pairs, depending on the gender. Females have 4 of them, on which she bears laid eggs and hatched young crustaceans. Finally, the heavily flattened limbs are part of the caudal fin, which can be used for locomotion.
