The passenger plane was in flight on the first day for 5 hours, and on the next day – for 8 hours
The passenger plane was in flight on the first day for 5 hours, and on the next day – for 8 hours, and flew all the time at the same speed. On the first day, he flew 1620 km less than the second. What is the distance the plane flew on the first and second days separately?
We denote the speed of the aircraft x km / h.
On the first day the plane flew (5 * x) kilometers, and on the second – (8 * x).
Knowing that on the first day the plane flew 1620 km less, we make the equation:
8 * x – 5 * x = 1620;
3 * x = 1620;
x = 540 km / h – flight speed.
Let’s find how many kilometers the plane flew on the first day in 5 hours:
540 * 5 = 2700 km.
Let’s find the plane’s path on the second day in 8 hours of flight:
540 * 8 = 4320 km.
Answer: on the first day the plane flew 2700 km, on the second – 4320 km.
