According to the condition of the problem, the perimeter of this rectangle is 48 cm, therefore, we can draw up the following equation:
2 * (x + 3x) = 48.
Solving this equation, we get:
2 * 4x = 48;
8x = 48;
x = 48/8;
x = 6 cm.
Find the length of the rectangle:
3x = 3 * 6 = 18 cm.
Find the area of the rectangle:
6 * 18 = 108 cm².
