The perimeter of a rectangular garden plot is 160 m, and one of its sides is 30 m. How many earthworms live in this garden if there are 60 earthworms for every square meter of the garden?

1) Let’s find out how long the second side of the garden plot is, if we know that the perimeter of the plot is 160 meters, and one side of it is 30 meters. We draw up an equation, where:

X is the second side;

160 – perimeter.

2 * (X + 30) = 160;

2X + 60 = 160;

2X = 160 – 60;

2X = 100;

X = 100/2;

X = 50 meters.

2) Find out what area the garden area occupies.

30 * 50 = 1500 m².

3) Determine how many worms live in the garden, if we know that there are 60 worms per 1 m².

1500 * 60 = 90,000 worms.

Answer: 90,000 worms live in the garden.
