| 1. Since the perimeter of the square is known, its side is equal to 1/4 of the perimeter. Find the side of the square:
Side = 40 * 1/4 = 10 cm.
2. We define the area of a square by the following formula S = a ^ 2, where S is the area of a square with side a:
S = (10 cm) ^ 2 = 100 cm2.
Answer: the area of the square is 100 cm2.
