The perimeter of a square is 40 cm. What is the perimeter of a rectangle of the same area with a width of 5 cm?

A square is a rectangle in which all sides are equal. That’s why:

40/4 = 10 cm – side of the square;
10 * 10 = 100 cm2 – square area;
100/5 = 20 cm – the length of the rectangle;
(20 + 5) * 2 = the perimeter of the rectangle.
Answer: 50 cm.
