The perimeter of an isosceles triangle ABC with base BC is 40 cm, and the perimeter of an equilateral triangle BCD is 45 cm. Find sides AB and BC.
The ABC perimeter is 40 cm:
Pabc = AB + BC + AC = 40 cm
AB = AC = x
BC = y
2x + y = 40 cm
3y = 45
y = 15
2x + 15 = 40
2x = 25
X = 12.5cm
AB = AC = 12.5cm
Answer: AB = 12.5; AC = 12.5 cm
