| The perimeter of an isosceles triangle is 14 cm. The difference between the two sides is 3.2 cm. Find the length of the sides of the triangle.
1. A, B, C – the vertices of the triangle.
2. According to the condition of the problem, one of the sides is 3.2 cm larger than the other. Let’s say AC = AB + 3.2 cm.
3. Further calculations are performed using the formula for calculating the perimeter:
AC + AB + BC = 14 cm.
BC = AB, since the triangle is isosceles.
4. Substitute in the original expression AB instead of BC and (AB + 3,2) instead of AC:
2AB + AB + 3.2 = 14 cm.
3AB = 10.8 cm.
AB = 10.8: 3 = 3.6 cm.
AC = 3.6 + 3.2 = 6.8 cm.
Answer: BC = AB = 3.6 cm, AC = 6.8 cm
