| The perimeter of an isosceles triangle is 27cm, and the side is 3cm less than the base. What is the sum of the sides of this triangle?
1. A, B, C – the vertices of the triangle.
2. By the condition of the problem, the lateral side is 3 cm less than the base. AC = AB + 3 cm.
3. Further calculations are performed using the formula for calculating the perimeter:
AC + BC + AB = 27 cm.
BC = AB, since the triangle is isosceles.
4. Substitute in the original expression AB instead of BC and (AB + 3) instead of AC:
AB + 3 + 2AB = 27 cm.
3AB = 24 cm.
AB = 24: 3 = 8 cm.
BC + AB = 8 + 8 = 16 cm.
Answer: BC + AB = 16 cm.
