| The problem has two solutions.
Let’s consider the first solution.
Find one of the lateral sides of an isosceles triangle:
(32 – 12): 2 = 20: 2 = 10 (cm).
Let’s find the second side of this triangle:
As you know, in an isosceles triangle, the sides are equal, so the second side is also 10 cm.
Answer: 10 cm, 10 cm.
Let’s consider the second solution to the problem.
Find the second lateral side of the isosceles triangle:
We know that an isosceles triangle has equal sides, so the second side of this triangle is also 12 cm.
Find the base of an isosceles triangle:
32 – (12 + 12) = 32 – 24 = 8 (cm).
Answer: 8 cm and 12 cm.
