| Let’s denote the length of the base of an isosceles triangle through x cm, then both sides are (x – 3.5) cm.
Let’s make an equation for the sum of all sides (perimeter).
x + (x – 3.5) * 2 = 41;
x + 2x = 41 + 7;
3x = 48;
x = 48/3 = 16 cm.
Answer: the base of the triangle is 16 cm.
