| The perimeter of the ABC triangle is 50 cm. The AB side is 2 cm larger than the BC side and the AC side is 2 times larger than the BC side. Find the sides of the triangle.
Let one side of triangle BC be x cm, then the second side AB will be equal to (x + 2) cm, and the third AC – (2x) cm. Knowing the value of the perimeter of triangle ABC with such sides and that the perimeter is the sum of all sides, we can make an equation and solve it:
x + 2 + x + 2x = 50;
4x = 50 – 2;
4x = 48;
x = 48/4;
x = 12.
If x = 12, then side BC will be 12 cm, the second AB is 14 cm, and the third AC is 24 cm.
Answer: 14 cm, 12 cm, 24 cm.
Examination:
14 + 12 + 24 = 50;
50 = 50.
