The perimeter of the MKР triangle is 59 cm. The MK side is 24 cm, the KR side is 6 cm less than the MK side. Find the length of the side of the MP.

1) We find out how long the side of the KР has, if it is known that it is 6 cm shorter than the side of the MK, and the length of the side of the MK is 24 cm.

CР = 24 – 6 = 18 cm.

2) We find out the sum of the lengths of the sides of the MK and KР, if it is known that the MK is 24 cm long, and the KР has a length of 18 cm.

24 + 18 = 42 cm.

3) Let us find out what is the length of the side of the MР, if it is known that the perimeter of the triangle was 59 cm, and the sum of the lengths of its two sides was 42 cm.

59 – 42 = 17 cm.

Answer: the length of the MP side of the MCР triangle was 17 cm.
