The perimeter of the parallelogram = 120 cm. One of its sides is 25 cm larger than the other. Find the sides of the pralleogram.

In order to find the sides of the parallelogram, we compose and solve the equation.
But first of all, let’s see what is given to us.
The perimeter of the parallelogram is known to be 120 cm.It is also known that one of its sides is 25 cm larger than the other.
Let us denote by the variable x the length of one of the sides, then the length of the second side can be written as – (x + 25) cm.
We look for the perimeter of the parallelogram by the formula:
P = 2 (a + b);
2 (x + (x + 25)) = 120;
x + x + 25 = 120: 2;
2x + 25 = 60;
2x = 60 – 25;
2x = 35;
x = 35: 2;
x = 17.5 cm length of one of the sides, then 17.5 + 25 = 42.5 cm length of the second side.
