The perimeter of the parallelogram ABCD is 24 cm. Find the sides of this parallelogram if a) the difference is 3 cm; b) one side is 5 times larger than the other.
a) 2 (x + x-3) = 24
x + x-3 = 12
2x = 12 + 5
2x = 15
x = 7.5
x-3 = 4.5
answer: 4.5 and 7.5
b) 2 (x + 5x) = 24
2x + 10x = 24
12x = 24
x = 24/12
x = 2
5x = 10
answer: 2 and 10
