The perimeter of the parallelogram ABCD is 64 cm. Find the sides of the parallelogram
The perimeter of the parallelogram ABCD is 64 cm. Find the sides of the parallelogram if the difference between the two sides is 12 cm.
In order to find the sides of a parallelogram, we will recall the properties of the sides of a parallelogram and the formula for finding the perimeter of a parallelogram.
It is known from the condition that the difference between the two sides of the parallelogram is 12 cm, and its perimeter is 64 cm.
We denote one pair of sides as x cm, then we write the length of the second pair of sides as (x + 12) cm.
P = 2 (a + b);
2 (x + (x + 12)) = 64;
x + x + 12 = 64: 2;
2x + 12 = 32;
2x = 32 – 12;
x = 20: 2;
x = 10 cm is the length of one pair of sides of the parallelogram, then 10 + 12 = 22 cm is the length of the second pair of sides.
