Opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal and parallel. Let’s denote the unknown side by the letter x, compose and solve the perimeter equation:
x + x + 12 + 12 = 40 cm;
2x + 24 = 40;
2x = 40 – 24;
2x = 16;
x = 16/2;
x = 8 cm.
