The perimeter of the parallelogram is 48 cm. Find the side of the parallelogram if: a) one side is 3 cm. more than the other b) the difference between the two sides is 7 cm c) one of the sides is twice the other

The perimeter is p = 2 * (a + b) = 48 cm, where a and b are sides.

a) It is given that a = (b + 3) cm.Perimeter p = 2 * (a + b) = 2 * (b + 3 + b) = 2 * (2 * b + 3) = 4 * b + 6 = 48.

We find in = (48 – 6) / 4 = 42/4 = 10.5 (cm).

a = b + 3 = (10.5 + 3) cm = 13.5 cm.

b) It is given that (a – c) = 7 cm. a = b + 7.

Perimeter p = 2 * (a + b) = 2 * (b + 7 + b) = 2 * (2 * b + 7) = 4 * b + 14 = 48; 4 * h = (48 – 14) cm = 34 cm; h = 34 cm / 4 = 8.5 cm.

a = b + 7 = 8.5 cm + 7 cm = 15.5 cm.

c) a = 2 * c. p = 2 * (a + b) = 2 * (2 * b + b) = 2 * 3 * b = 6 * b = 48 (cm).; h = 48/6 = 8 (cm). a = 2 * b = 16 (cm).
