| 1. Let’s denote the length of the shorter side of the parallelogram through x.
2. Find out what the large side of the parallelogram is equal to:
(5 + x) cm.
3. Let’s compose and solve the equation:
((x + 5) + x) * 2 = 50;
(x + x + 5) * 2 = 50;
(2x + 5) * 2 = 50;
2x + 5 = 50: 2;
2x + 5 = 25;
2x = 25 – 5;
2x = 20;
x = 20: 2;
x = 10.
4. The length of the smaller side is x = 10.
5. What is the length of the longer side of the parallelogram?
5 + x = 5 + 10 = 15 cm.
Answer: the sides of the parallelogram are 10 cm; 15 cm; 10 cm; 15 cm.
