We denote by the variable x cm – the smaller side of the parallelogram, then the larger side can be written as (x + 4) cm.

P = 2 (a + b);

2 (x + (x + 4)) = 68;

x + x + 4 = 68: 2;

2x + 4 = 34;

2x = 34 – 4;

2x = 30;

x = 30: 2;

x = 15 cm is the length of the smaller side, and 15 + 4 = 19 cm is the length of the larger side of the parallelogram.
