| 1) First of all, we calculate the length of a rectangular piece of land, provided that its perimeter is 300 m and width = 52 m.
If P = 2a + 2b, therefore:
2b = P – 2a = 300 – 2 * 52 = 300 – 104 = 196.
To find the second factor, divide the product by the first:
b = 196: 2 = 98 m.
2) The area of a rectangle whose opposite sides are equal is calculated by the formula:
S = a * b = 52 * 98 = 5096 m².
