The perimeter of the quadrangle is 52 cm. One side of it is 1 dm 4 cm, the second is 5 cm less than the first, and the third is 8 cm more than the second. Find the length of the fourth side.

Let’s solve this task by actions with explanations:
1) 1 dm 4 cm = 1 * 10 cm + 4 cm = 10 cm + 4 cm = 14 centimeters – the length of the first side of the quadrilateral;
2) 14 – 5 = 11 centimeters – the length of the second side of the quadrangle, since it is 5 centimeters shorter than the first side;
3) 11 + 8 = 19 centimeters – the length of the third side of the quadrilateral, since it is 8 centimeters longer than the second side;
4) 14 + 11 + 19 = 25 + 19 = 44 centimeters – the sum of the lengths of the first, second and third sides of the quadrilateral;
