| The perimeter of the quadrangle is 52 cm. One side of it is 1 dm 4 cm, the second is 5 cm smaller than the first, and the third is 8 cm larger than the second. Find the length of the fourth side.
1) What is the length of the second side of the quadrangle?
1 dm 4 cm – 5 cm = 14 cm – 5 cm = 9 cm. (1 dm = 10 cm)
2) What is the length of the third side of the quadrangle?
9 cm + 8 cm = 17 cm.
3) What is the length of the first, second and third sides of the quadrilateral together?
14 cm + 9 cm + 17 cm = 40 cm
4) What is the length of the fourth side of the quadrilateral?
52 cm – 40 cm = 12 cm.
Answer. 12 cm.
