| Let the width of the rectangular shape be x dm.
Then its length will be (x + 1.5) dm.
The perimeter of this rectangular shape will be (2x + 2x (x + 1.5)) dm or 13 dm.
Let’s compose an equation and find from it the width of a rectangular shape.
2x + 2 x (x + 1.5) = 13.
2x + 2x + 3 = 13.
4x = 13 – 3.
4x = 10.
x = 10: 4.
x = 2.5 dm.
Now let’s find the length of the rectangular shape.
To do this, we will increase the found width by 1.5 dm.
2.5 + 1.5 = 4 dm.
Find the area of a rectangular shape.
To do this, we multiply its found dimensions by each other.
2.5 x 4 = 10 dm².
Answer: The area of a rectangular figure is 10 dm².
