The perimeter of the rectangle is 152 cm. The width of its side is 8 cm. What is the length?

The perimeter of a rectangle is calculated using the formula:

P = 2a + 2b. Provided that the sum of all the sides of such a figure (its P) is 152 cm, and the width = 8 cm, we find the length.

The first term is the difference between the sum and the second, therefore:

2a = P – 2b. To find a, we divide the product by the first factor:

a = (P – 2b): 2. Substitute the known values from the condition:

a = (152 – 2 * 8): 2 = (152 – 16): 2 = 136: 2 = 68 cm.
