The perimeter of the rectangle is 260 m, length is 90 m. Find: a) the area of a rectangle

The perimeter of the rectangle is 260 m, length is 90 m. Find: a) the area of a rectangle b) the perimeter of a square with the same area.

Knowing the perimeter and length of the rectangle, we find its width b:

(b + 90) * 2 = 260,

b + 90 = 130,

b = 130 – 90 = 40 m.

a) The area of this rectangle is calculated by multiplying the length and width:

S = 90 * 40 = 3600 m2.

b) Find out the side a of a square with an area of 3600 m2:

a = √S = √3600 = 60 m.

This means that its perimeter is:

P = 4a = 4 * 60 = 240 m.
