| The perimeter of any rectangle is equal to the sum of the length and width of that rectangle times 2.

Therefore, the sum of the length and width of any rectangle is half the perimeter of that rectangle.

According to the problem statement, the perimeter of this rectangle is 36 cm.

Consequently, half of the perimeter of this rectangle is 36/2 = 18 cm and the sum of the length and width of this rectangle is also 18 cm.

According to the condition of the problem, the length of this rectangle is 11 cm, therefore, the width of this rectangle is 18 – 11 = 7 cm.

Answer: The width of the rectangle is 7 cm.
