| The perimeter of the rectangle is 42 cm. What is the length and width of the rectangle if the length is 2 times greater than its width?
1. Since the length of the rectangle is equal to 2 lengths of the width, then the entire perimeter of the rectangle will be equal to 6 lengths of the width, since the perimeter is 2 lengths + 2 widths. Then divide the perimeter of the rectangle by 6 and get the width of the rectangle:
42 cm / 6 = 7 cm.
2. Find the length of the rectangle by multiplying the width by 2:
7 cm * 2 = 14 cm.
Answer: The width of the rectangle is 7 cm and the length is 14 cm.
