The perimeter of the rectangle is 44cm. Its length is 12cm. Find the perimeter of a square whose side is equal to the width of the rectangle.
1) Let X be the width of the rectangle.
2) Based on the condition of the problem, we compose the equation:
2 * (12 + X) = 44;
24 + 2 X = 44;
2 X = 44 – 24;
2 X = 20;
X = 10;
3) The perimeter of the square will be:
2 (10 + 10) = 40 cm;
