Let’s make an equation and find out what the first side of the rectangle is equal to if its perimeter is 48 cm.
x + x + 3x + 3x = 48;
8x = 48;
x = 48/8;
x = 6 cm.
Now let’s find out what the second side of the rectangle is.
6 * 3 = 18 cm.
Now let’s calculate the area of this rectangle.
6 * 18 = 108 cm ^ 2.
