P of a rectangle = 6 dm 8 cm = 68 cm, we find the lengths of the sides, if one of them is 1 dm 6 cm = 16 cm less than the other:

2x + 2 * (x + 16) = 68,

2x + 2x + 32 = 68,

4x = 68 – 32 = 36,

x = 36: 4 = 9.

1 side is 9 cm and the other is 9 + 16 = 25 cm.
