| The perimeter of the rectangle is 6 m 30 cm, and one of its sides is 8 times smaller than the neighboring one. Find the area of the rectangle.
Let’s designate one side of the rectangle as x m.
Then the other side will be equal to 8 x m.
The perimeter of the rectangle is, by condition, 6, 3 m.
2 (x + 8 x) = 6, 3.
2 x + 16 x = 6, 3.
18 x = 6, 3.
x = 0.35.
One side is 35 cm.
Find the other side: 35 * 8 = 280 cm.
Find the area of a rectangle by the product of its two known sides:
S = 35 * 280 = 9800 (cm²).
Answer: the area of the rectangle is 9800 cm².
