The perimeter of the rectangle is 60cm. Width is 4cm less than length. Find the width and length.

The perimeter is the sum of all sides, so all 4 sides are folded, but we can find the sum of 2 sides – 1 width and 1 length
60: 2 = 30 (cm) -the sum of the width and length
Let x cm be the width
Then x + 4 cm will be the length
It is known that the sum of 1 width and 1 length is equal to 30 cm
Let’s make the equation:
x + x + 4 = 30
2x = 26
x = 26: 2
x = 13 (cm) -width
13 + 4 = 17 (cm) -length
Answer: length 17 cm, width 13 cm
