| The perimeter of the rectangle is 70cm, and its length is 15cm longer than the width. Find the length and width of the rectangle. Clean out its area.
Given:
length – 15 cm more;
width -? cm;
P = 70 cm.
S =? cm².
The perimeter is calculated by the formula: P = 2 * (a + b) – where, a – length, b – width.
Let’s take as a-width, b – length, then b = a + 15.
P = 2 (a + b) = 2 (a + a + 15) (cm).
P = 70 (cm).
70 = 2 * (a + a + 15)
35 = 2a + 15
2a = 20
a = 10 (cm).
Therefore: b = a + 15 = 10 + 15 = 25 (cm).
The area of a rectangle is equal to the product of its sides and is calculated by the formula:
S = a * b.
S = a * b = 10 * 25 = 250 (cm²)
Answer: 10 cm rectangle length, 25 cm rectangle width, 250 cm² rectangle area.
