A rectangle is a rectangle whose opposite sides are equal. Its perimeter (the sum of all sides) is determined by the formula: P = 2a + 2b. Based on this, we find the width, if its value for such a figure is 72 cm, and its length is 23 cm:
2 * 23 + 2 * b = 72,
2b = 72 – 46 = 26,
b = 26: 2 = 13 cm.
The area of the rectangle is calculated by the formula:
S = a * b = 23 * 13 = 299 cm².
