The perimeter of the triangle ABC is 62 cm. BC is 17 cm, AB is equal to CA. Find the length of the side AB.

The perimeter of a triangle is equal to the sum of all the lengths of its sides.

P = a + b + c;

Since one side is known to us (given in the condition). We can subtract it from the entire perimeter and then we get:

1) 62 – 17 = 45 cm – the other two sides.

Since the other sides are equal, we can divide the remaining figure in half and get each of the remaining two sides.

2) 45/2 = 22.5 cm. Sides AB and CA

Answer: AB = 22.5 cm.
