The perimeter of the triangle is 16cm. Its two sides are equal to each other, and each of them is 5.3 cm larger than the third. Find the sides of the triangle

The sides of the triangle are denoted by a, b and c (in centimeters). According to the terms of the assignment, its two sides are equal. Let’s assume that a = b. According to another condition of the assignment, each of the equal sides is 5.3 cm larger than the third. Hence, c = a – 5.3 cm.Since the perimeter of the triangle is 16 cm, we have: a + b + c = a + a + a – 5.3 = 16 or 3 * a = 16 + 5.3 = 21 , 3, whence a = 21.3: 3 = 7.1. Then, the third side of the triangle is equal to c = 7.1 cm – 5.3 cm = 1.8 cm. It is easy to verify that the triangle with the sides is 7.1 cm; 7.1 cm and 1.8 cm – exists.
